I don't always have time to make breakfast in the mornings, so instant oatmeal can be a god send. But it is so expensive and the pre-packaged kind isn't very filling. I was excited to try this homemade version. I love making homemade versions of things you find in the store.
Homemade Instant Oatmeal Mix
adapted from Mommy's Kitchen
4 1/2 Cups (18 oz) Quick Cooking Oats
1/3 Cup Dry Milk
1/2 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
2 tsp Cinnamon
1 Cup Raisins or Other Dried Fruits
Mix all of the ingredients together and store in a airtight container. Label the contianer with the directions on how to prepare the oatmeal. Yields 16 servings
To prepare oatmeal: scoop 1/2 cup oatmeal into a bowl and mix with 1/2 cup water. You may need a bit more water if you like you oatmeal thinner. Microwave on high for 1 minute stir and enjoy.

What a great idea and recipe. Thanks for sharing. I am an oatmeal junkie so this is right up my alley.
Hi Cassandra,
I really need to try this! I buy instant oatmeal for myself and would love to be able to make some ahead. Thanks for adding this to my new Melt in Your Mouth Blog Hop! :)
I really liked this product. I didn't get any strech marks until the last few weeks of my pregnancy and I chalk that up to good genes more than anything
