I love making things from scratch. Especially items that are normally bought in the store. Making homemade versions gives me a sense of accomplishment. A "take that big companies, I don't need you". Most items you can buy in the store a fairly easy to duplicate and you probably have most on hand already.
One of the first things I started making myself was taco seasoning. I was making tacos one night when I realized I forgot to buy seasoning. I searched the net in hopes I could find a recipe for it. Low and behold there were TONS of versions. I've never boughten it from the store since.
Homemade Taco Seasoning
5 Tbsp Chili Powder
1 ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
1 ¼ tsp Onion Powder
1 ½ tsp Cayenne Pepper
1 ¼ tspOregano
3 ½ tsp Paprika
2 ½ tsp Ground Cumin
5 tsp Sea Salt
5 tsp Black Pepper
Combine all ingredients. Store in airtight container. Use 1-5 Tbsp depending on taste. I am a wuss when it comes to heat (mild salsa makes me weep) and I only use 1 Tbsp.

I agree!! I love making my own taco, fajita and other seasonings. That way I don't stress that I don't have a packet of taco seasoning.
Yours looks much better than the one you dump out of a packet. Thanks for sharing.
