Garlic Breadsticks and Homemade Garlic Bread Seasoning

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  Hope everyone has a wonderful day full of love!  My husband and I have never really been a couple to celebrate Valentine's Day.  It's not that we don't like the day, He is usually working all day and exhausted and I take care of the kids all day.  Our day usually consists of maybe a special dinner if I have time to make something fancy, tonight I am making a slow cooked pot roast that I hope to post soon.  I sometimes get flowers if he has time to make it to the store.  Sometimes I get flowers the next day instead for my birthday.  But if nothing happens, I am ok with that too, we show our love everyday.

Tomorrow I hope to post my birthday cake.  Yes I am making my own cake...and I am making it how I want.  Coconut Cream Pound Cake....mmm....coconut.  But I bring another bread recipe today.  I meant to post this yesterday, but didn't get a chance to.  The breadsticks are really quick and easy and dont require alot of rising time and the garlic bread seasoning is amazing!  I could eat the whole pan by myself.  I wish I didn't have to share.  I got about 21 breadsticks out of this recipe.

Quick and Easy Breadsticks
adapted from Jamie Cooks It up

1 1/2 Cups Warm Water
2 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Yeast
1/2 tsp Salt
3 1/2 Cup - 4 Cups Flour
2 Tbsp Butter, melted
Garlic Bread Seasoning Mix
Mix the water, sugar and yeast together in a measuring cup or in the bottom of your mixer.  Let sit for 5 minutes. Mix the flour and salt together and add one cup at a time to yeast mixture, mixing, until it is well incorporated.  Mix on high for 5 minutes.  Let dough rest for 5 minutes.

Pour melted butter into a jelly roll pan, make sure its well greased.  Place the dough in the center of the pan.  Let it sit for 2-3 minutes.  Spread the dough out flat onto the pan until it reaches all of the edges.  Doing all of the spreading and cutting of these bread sticks in the pan makes cleaning up the counter easier.

Top with garlic bread seasoning mix (recipe follows).  With a pizza cutter, cut the dough into three rows lengthwise, and then into about 12 little height wise rows.  Put the pan into a 170 degree over for about 7-10 minutes.  I have a gas oven and my lowest setting is 200 and it worked just fine.  The breadsticks should rise up about 1 inch.

Turn your oven up to 350 degrees and bake for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.  When they come out of the oven let them sit and rest again for about 5 minutes.  Then redefine your cutting lines with pizza cutter.
Whole process takes about 45 minutes.

Homemade Garlic Bread Seasoning
adapted from Our Best Bites

1/2 Cup Powdered Parmesan Cheese
2 tsp Kosher Salt
2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
2 tsp Dried Oregano
2 tsp Dried Basil
2 tsp Dried Marjoram
2 tsp Parsley

Mix all ingredients and store in an airtight container.  Combine 1 1/2 Tbsp of seasoning with 1/2 Cup Butter, melted.

Makes enough for a half pint mason jar.  I made this cute label using a greeting card program I have.
